Sir Chandrashekhar Venkat Raman, the famous Indian Physicist, discovered theinelastic scattering of photon, now known as Raman Scattering Effect, on February 28, 1928 – 85 years ago. This discovery by Dr. C. V. Raman was a major scientific breakthrough, and Dr. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery, in 1930. The records show that Dr. Kariamanickam Srinivas Krishnan was also the co-inventor of Raman effect, even though not credited fully in subsequent rewards and recognitions.
